Hangar Collapses At Newark Liberty International Airport, Four Injured

A hangar collapsed at Newark Liberty International Airport in Newark, New Jersey, and four of the nine people inside at the time were injured. The hangar was unused and undergoing demolition when it unexpectedly collapsed at approximately 2:00PM EST yesterday.

The collapsed hangar hadn’t been sheltering any aircraft for several years, instead being used as a storage building. In 2014, United opened a new state of the art maintenance hangar at Newark designed specifically to handle the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) was recently named as one of several New York City-area transit facilitiesto receive millions in funding for badly-needed renovation. Along with John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and LaGuardia Airport (LGA), it is one of New York City’s three major airports
